After exiting 16th Street station, a couple of 15-16 year old city kids from Dave Egger's 826 Valencia writing workshops came up to me and said "Excuse me, can we interview you for our writing assignment...you look interesting". I, of course, said Yes! and they were amazed that I was into it.
The "interview" went as following--
Two-bug-eyed-impressionable kids: So what's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?
Me: Wow. Uhm...
Them: Most beautiful
Me: Well, I guess seeing my Mother give birth.
Them: OK, what's the coolest thing to happen to you recently?
Me: I just got this internship at PLANET, its on the corner of the street, right there.
Them: Oh, cool, cool.
Me: So what's the assignment again?
Them: We have to interview someone we think is interesting and then write a story from their point of view.
Me: Cool! How's 826 Valencia? I always wanted to check it out.
Them: It's cool, its just for the summer.
Me: Cool, I'm not sure I'm interesting enough of a subject to write from..
Them: Woah, look, we should of interviewed that guy..
*old man pushing an ice cream cart slowly and creepily walks past us and makes me look mediocre*
Me: Oh shit, yeah that's way more interesting.
Them: Yeah, we can do him after you!
Me: No, go, go for it, just go ahead. That's much more interesting..
Them: Well thanks, thanks for talking to us, thanks!
*dust of wind as they run away*
